Summer in Val Thorens
End of summer PDF Print E-mail

The 2008 summer season in Val Thorens is now over. It is getting better up there every year with more and more activities arranged for visitors and so the village is really buzzing during July and August.

The walking of course still remains paramount. We had a fantastic walk in glorious sunshine up to the top of La Masse and down the other side past all the lakes to have a bit of a rest, a beer and a plate of chips at the refuge of the Lac du Lou. You have to be a bit of a mountain goat after you start to drop down from the Pointe de La Masse as you have to walk along a crest with a sheer drop either side – quite scary if you look down! We didn’t see any marmottes but that was not surprising as a Golden Eagle flew very low overhead.

As a rest from walking we spent the entire day (several times!) at the outdoor swimming pool at Les Bruyeres. Glorious pool with the most amazing mountain views on all sides.

We are now looking forward to the start of the ski season on 22 November.

A wonderful summer in Val Thorens PDF Print E-mail

The winter season lasted right to the end - with good snow on slopes to mid May. Great for skiing, but less good for the summer season! The weather has now started to pick up and we expect a warm summer period lasting throughout July and August. Check out some of the pictures on our photo galleries.
