Self Catering in Val Thorens

We’ve been staying in Val Thorens at our own studio flat for the past 16 years. We can therefore offer you many years of experience in Self Catering in Val Thorens, and we’re happy to share this with you.

When you go self catering the first day is usually spent finding out the best places to shop. So, to help you get into the swing of your holiday as quickly as possible here is our review of the facilities in the local area (called Peclet).

Supermarkets:
There are several supermarkets in the village. In the Peclet area, there is a small covered shopping centre which you’ll have gone past on your way to the flat. The Carrefour supermarket is probably the best supermarket in the village and is a five mins walk (even in heavy snow) from the flat. From a self catering perspective the Carrefour is pretty good – they have a fairly wide range of fresh produce, plus a range of wines (ranging from a couple of Euros through to more expensive Grand Crus). Sherpa, on the other side of the road, has a deli serving hot and cold meats (including the obligatory roasted chicken).

Bread: There is a range of bakeries in the local area worth exploring for excellent pastries and totally fresh bread (try the bakery in the Peclet Shopping centre for nice cakes).

Take Away food:
When you are self catering you don’t necessarily have to cook every day, and the Peclet area has a several options to help you. There are burger, kebab and pizza places on the right hand side of the Place de Peclet (opposite the lift pass shop). Not cordon bleu – but sometimes it’s nice to have a few chips.

Cheap Eats:
If you want a cheap meal out try the following:
Saints Peres restaurant and bar – in the centre de Peclet. Nice Pizzas.
Frog & Roastbeef. Food varies quite a lot, but well worth sampling for a great English atmosphere.
La Pause. French cuisine

Nice restaurants:
Val Thorens is blessed with restaurants. It even has a Michelin starred restaurant at the Oxalys hotel. We suggest exploring as there is pretty much anything to meet your tastes.

Self catering in Val Thorens is a joy. Another tip if you want to save some time when you get there. You can now pre-order your lift passes online – you can then get them delivered to you in the UK before you even leave. This alone will save you an hour on your first day so it’s highly recommended.

Have a nice stay at our Self Catering Studio flat
